Solvent extraction is a method that extracts oils and oleo compounds from oil-bearing materials. Extraction of oil from low oil-bearing materials to less than 1% yields protein-rich meal appropriate for diverse uses such as chicken, fish, animal feeds, and pet food.
Various extractors are designed to extract oil from oil-bearing materials, including Ball Man, Kennedy, Rotocell, Rotary Cells, and Moving Bed Extractors.
The Moving Deep Bed Extractor uses Solvent Hexane to extract oils from a variety of materials, including Soya Beans, Cotton Seeds, Sunflower, Groundnut, Castor, Mustard, Safflower, Sunflower, Shea, and Cocoa Nibs.
Oil extraction requires proper processing of oil-bearing seeds, ejected cakes, or enlarged materials.
Solvent Extraction
The Redler Conveyor transports prepared seed from the preparatory section, full pressed oil cake, pre-pressed oil cake, or expanded material to the Extractor via a rotary valve or Plug O Seal. The extractor feed hopper has a high and low-level arrangement to ensure a proper level of material in the Hope and seal system. The material enters the intake hopper and passes through the moving deep bed extractor's endless band conveyor chain. Hexane is then sprayed counter-currently across the material. The solvent percolates through the bed, dissolving oil with it. The solvent oil combination is known as miscella.
Miscella from the last hopper is delivered to the holding tank via a filter or hydro cyclones located above the extractor. The de-oiled seed material containing solvent is unloaded from the extractor discharge hopper and delivered to the desolventizer toaster via a leak-proof sealed conveyor.
